According to IDC Worldwide Quarterly Enterprise Storage Systems Tracker released on December 12, 2018 (see chart at the end of the page), Huawei Enterprise Storage Market Share is at %3 and in a virtual tie with Hitachi, IBM, Lenovo and Inspur.
That is a lot of storage.

According to the FBI, Huawei is up to enough shenanigans to indicte them on multiple charges including Theft of trade secrets conspiracy, Wire fraud and Obstruction of justice.
The full lists of charges can be found here:

So, we were wondering… Can Huawei still be trusted with our storage?

The tldr on this is so far, “Yes”

We have read the hard to find Huawei-ZTE Investigative Report (from October 8th, 2012) and the FCC document FCC 18-42 Protecting Against National Security Threats to the Communications Supply Chain Through FCC Programs from (April 18th, 2019) and are not really seeing any proof.

So far – at the time of this writing, it’s not clear if US intelligence has found anything concrete or not, and there are no actual spying charges brought against Huawei.

In all the documents we have read, nothing is even mentioned of Huawei’s Enterprise Storage side of things. It’s all handheld devices and the upcoming 5G networks.

Wariness is required in all Enterprise level purchases, but we still believe in Innocent Until Proven Guilty.
